The Greek city of Kalamata is home to the world renowned'Kalamata' olive variety, also known as 'Calamon'. This variety grows in small regions of the southern Peloponnese Peninsula. Kalamata olives are deep purple in colour, have a distinctive and elegant flavour and can be eaten plain or chopped up to be used in salads or other preparations.
